Metal Gate

4106 scanThese bars, light and dark, steel and brick, are certainly intimidating in their own right. They are actually only the entry gate at the visitor's center at the Chicago Botanic Gardens in Glencoe, Illinois. The gate was open and folded back against the wall. I thought that the lines and patterns of the gate were worthy of a photo themselves. The photo was taken in September of 1982 with a Ricoh Singlex TLS 35 mm SLR equipped with a 55 mm f/1.7 Prinz Auto Rexatar lens on Kodak Plus-X Pan film. The negative was enlarged optically with a Beseler 23CIIXL enlarger and a 50 mm f/2.8 Rodenstock Rodagon lens on Kodak Polycontrast Rapid Double Weight Fiber Base silver gelatin photo paper. Processing was done using Kodak chemistry.
