The Wilderness Photographer

Q71-1-1 scanOne of our guides on a wilderness canoe trip in Quetico Provincial Park, in Ontario, Canada. This particular guide was known for his devotion to photography - is that a Leica around his neck? The photo was taken in June of 1971 with a Kodak Bantam 828 (lens?) on Kodak Verichrome Pan film. The negative was enlarged optically with a Beseler 23CIIXL enlarger and a 50 mm f/2.8 Schneider Componon-S lens on Ilford Multigrade FB Classic Double Weight Fiber Base silver gelatin photo paper. Processing was done archivally using Kodak chemistry, with a final toning with Kodak Rapid Selenium Toner, treated with hypo clearing agent, and washed in an archival washer. The negative has suffered a great deal of distress over the years, and I have decided to leave the numerous scratches and other flaws, as a sort of unintentional "vintage" look.
