Here a fine collection to show how life was before
The old fire house, tobacco house, barber shop and more.
Once a year we all have strawberries and ice cream galore -
Old cars come to be ridden in, gaped at, and adored!
A
local museum complex in Mayville, Wisconsin, including the original
firehouse (1874) and a cigar factory (1881). Making an attractive
tableau, these buildings provide a small taste of local life in the
past, and yearly hosts a strawberries and ice cream festival. The
firehouse is surprisingly modest in size. Now who would expect a cigar
factory in small town Wisconsin? There were six in Mayville alone!
The photo was taken in September of 2016 with a Pentax 67 medium format SLR
equipped with a 105 mm f/2.4 SMC Pentax 67 lens
on Ilford HP4+ film. The negative was enlarged optically with a
Beseler 23CIIXL enlarger and a 100 mm f/5.6 Schneider Componon-S lens on Ilford
Multigrade FB Classic Double Weight Fiber Base silver gelatin photo
paper. Processing was done archivally using Kodak chemistry, with a
final toning with Kodak Rapid Selenium Toner, treated with hypo clearing
agent, and washed in an archival washer.
All aspects of this print were handled in an authentic, pre-digital manner. Archival processing will ensure the maximum life span for this print.
