The similarities to Rodin's "The Thinker" are obvious, but I doubt that this non-commissioned officer is aware of this. In camp at Pamplin Park in Petersburg, Virginia. The photo was taken in March of 1998 with a Ricoh Singlex TLS 35 mm SLR equipped with a 135 mm f/3.5 Super Takumar lens on Kodak Tri-X Pan film. The negative was enlarged optically with a Beseler 23CIIXL enlarger and a 50 mm f/2.8 Rodenstock Rodagon lens on Agfa Multigrade Classic MCC111 Double Weight Fiber Base silver gelatin photo paper. Processing was done archivally using Kodak chemistry, with a final toning with Kodak Rapid Selenium Toner, treated with hypo clearing agent, and washed in an archival washer.
