Behind the Firing Line

4908 scanA view from right behind the infantry at the moment of firing. Those are not clouds, but smoke from the muskets! Plymouth, North Carolina. The photo was taken in April of 1998 with a Ricoh Singlex TLS 35 mm SLR equipped with a 135 mm f/3.5 Super Takumar lens on Kodak Tri-X Pan film. The negative was enlarged optically with a Beseler 23CIIXL enlarger and a 50 mm f/2.8 Rodenstock Rodagon lens on Agfa Multigrade Classic MCC111 Double Weight Fiber Base silver gelatin photo paper. Processing was done archivally using Kodak chemistry, with a final toning with Kodak Rapid Selenium Toner, treated with hypo clearing agent, and washed in an archival washer.
