Civil War Hospital Area

6413-1 scanEvening over the site of the Union field hospitals, at the siege of Port Hudson, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, in the American Civil War 1863. This area, behind the old front lines, now contains some prosperous looking ranches. The photo was taken in December of 2014 with a Pentax 6x7 MLU medium format SLR equipped with a 105 mm f/2.4 SMC Pentax 67 lens on Ilford FP4+ film. The negative was enlarged optically with a Beseler 23CIIXL enlarger and a 90 mm f/4.5 Rodenstock Rogonar-S lens on Ilford Multigrade FB Classic Double Weight Fiber Base silver gelatin photo paper. Processing was done archivally using Kodak chemistry, with a final toning with Kodak Rapid Selenium Toner, treated with hypo clearing agent, and washed in an archival washer.
